I'm an IT consultant specialising in Microsoft SharePoint and other collaborative/information worker technologies. A Microsoft Certified Professional, I have certifications (MCTS) in Windows SharePoint Services v3 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
My experience with commercial/proprietary, bespoke and open source technologies and solutions is wide-ranging, from the hobby environment to the enterprise, and I am platform agnostic as much as possible. I possess a ground-up understanding of the effects and implications of technology in the workplace, from the environmental, engineering and infrastructure aspects, through networking protocols and concepts, and on to application development, rollout and the business/financial ramifications. I cut my teeth in the UK oil and gas industry, and am still active there as a Solutions Architect for a midsized IT consulting and services company in Aberdeen.
I hold a BSc(Hons) in Geology from the University of Durham (UK), and am a Professional Member of the BCS and IET. Through these and the mainstream and specialist media I am an impassioned observer of all things technological.
